Orlee Howell, 105, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Sydney, ND, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Edgewood, Jamestown.

Orlee Ruth Letcher was born September 27, 1918, in Milltown, SD, the daughter of Ellis Winthrop and Sophia (Jaton) Letcher. The family moved to North Dakota in 1929 where Orlee completed her education at Central Dakota Commercial College, Jamestown. She worked at National Bank for a short time before moving to Pennsylvania where she lived for five years. Orlee worked in D.C as a page for senators before moving back to Jamestown. Orlee married Vernon Howell on December 31, 1951. They made their home on a farm at Sydney where they milked cows and raised small grains. Orlee was active with several organizations, including rural electrification, rural water, school district reorganization, school board and township board.

Orlee loved to travel. She was baptized in the Jordan River on one of her trips abroad. Her favorite place was the farm at Sydney and enjoyed tending to her lilies, peonies, and garden there. She also liked to play the piano and organ.

Orlee is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Arnold Letcher and Francis Letcher.

Funeral Service – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Jennifer McDonald officiating.

Visitation – One hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
