JAMESTOWN – There was just enough offense from a Jamestown Eagles team struggling in clutch situations to earn a win on Wednesday, but Williston’s offense dominated for a split.

Jamestown edged Williston 3-2 in the first game of a Legion Baseball doubleheader Wednesday at Jack Brown Stadium before the Keybirds won the second game 11-7.

Game 1: Jamestown 3, Williston 2
Brenner Weber broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with a fielder’s choice that drove in the go-ahead run.
The Eagles (6-9, 3-8) rallied after Williston (9-12, 0-5) scored single runs in the second and fourth innings. Jamestown evened the game with a two-run fourth inning on an RBI double by Preston Gall and a sacrifice fly by Braxton Perkins.
Jaxon Kolpin and Nate Walz walked as the first two batters of the bottom of the sixth. After two out, Perkins walked, followed by the winning play by Weber.
Thomas Newman (2-2) won his second straight start, allowing two runs and four hits in six and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts. Derek Hatlewick retired the final hitter for the save.

Game 2: Williston 11, Jamestown 7
Eight of the nine batters in the Williston lineup had at least one hit as the Keybirds (10-12, 1-5) scored in every inning except the second and knocked out 12 hits.
Bridger Johnson, Eden Mortenson and Garrett Solberg each drove in two runs for Williston.
Nate Walz had two run-scoring doubles for Jamestown (6-10, 3-9), Jaxon Kolpin hit a two-run double and Preston Gall hit a three-run double in the seventh inning.
Jaxon Kolpin (0-2) allowed eight runs and eight hits in five innings.

Jamestown will host the Phil Brown Classic, starting Friday. The Eagles will play Carrington that evening at 7:30, then meet Cando Saturday at 11:00 AM and Elmwood (MB) on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
