VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Groundbreaking for the new addition of the Sheyenne Valley Area Career Technology Center in Valley City is set for this month.

Director Derrick Bopp talked about what the renovation and new addition will entail.

He said the new addition will provide a big benefit for our students at the school.

North Dakota legislators appropriated $70 million for the expansion of existing Career Technology Centers in the state during their 2021 legislative session. Bopp said, the Valley City school received $3.18 million through a CTE grant. He said the state agreed to cover added construction costs for the project now totaling just under $4 million dollars.

The Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center board approved of bids for the project: The main contractor will be Meridian Commercial Construction of Fargo, Magnum Electric of Jamestown, Bakkegard and Schell, and R J’s Plumbing was picked for the mechanical end of the contract.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held later this month at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career Technology Center. The full interview is below.
