FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – A former NORTH DAKOTA U-S ATTORNEY says it’s possible that others may be implicated now that former state lawmaker Ray Holmberg of Grand Forks agreed to plead guilty to federal charges of traveling overseas to have sex with minors. Tim Purdon says he did an extensive review of the plea agreement.
He says with Holmberg’s lack of criminal History, the U-S ATTORNEY’S office will likely recommend a sentence on the low end of the guidelines that Federal Judges must follow, between three years and three-and-half years. Holmberg will appear in court to formally enter the plea. A pre-sentence investigation will then be prepared before the 80-year-old is sentenced by U-S District Judge Daniel Hovland.
