SPIRITWOOD LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -A one-vehicle crash occurred early Saturday morning, approximately one-mile southeast of Spiritwood Lake in Stutsman County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when a car traveling eastbound on 25th Street crossed 94th Ave SE, left the roadway, and ended up in a farm field northeast of the roadway. The driver, 23-year-old Andrew Warnica of Jamestown, and his passenger, 22-year-old Aracelia Vargas, also from Jamestown, left the scene of the crash and walked to a nearby resort.
Vargas sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Both individuals departed from the resort before law enforcement arrived, and no attempt was made by either party to report the incident.
Warnica was later located and arrested for actual physical control and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
