LaMoure, ND (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure Post 19 did just enough to beat the Oakes Post 36 Tornadoes by a final score of 3-2 on Monday June 10th.

The game started with both teams getting two men aboard in the first inning but unable to do anything with it as both starting pitchers would lock in. Michael Hoistad walking his first two batters and then getting the next 3 straight and Gunner Thielges would give up 2 hits before earning a fly out, a weak ground ball, and a strike out. Oakes would go down in order in the 2nd and LaMoure would put 2 more men on before stranding them.

The Tornadoes would get on the board in the top of the 3rd scoring 2 runs on 2 hits, a sac fly, and an error to take a 2-0 lead. Oakes would end up leaving the bases loaded. LaMoure would have a lead off double to start off the inning they would then have their next 2 batters get out before advancing the runner to third. They would then score that run off of an E4 to cut the lead in half making 2-1 after 3.

Oakes would once again get 2 men on in scoring position with only 1 out before Thielges began striking out the last 2 batters. This would be the start of 6 straight K’s for the LaMoure pitcher. LaMoure would then score 2 runs off of a 1 out Conner Johnson double to take the 3-2 lead. They would strand 2 runners in scoring position as Hoistad would not be rattled ending the threat in the 4th.

The Tornadoes would once again get a man in scoring position in the 6th however they’d once again be unable to do anything with it. Johnson would then switch with Thielges to start the 7th to earn himself a save as LaMoure would win 3-2.

The winning pitcher was Gunner Thielges going 6 IP allowing 7 hits, 1 walk, and 2 runs both earned while striking out 9. The save goes to Conner Johnson who pitched 1 inning allowing 1 walk and striking out 3. The loss goes to Michael Hoistad who went 6 IP giving up 5 hits, 5 walks, 3 runs of which 2 were earned he also earned the Bank North Player of the Game.
