WALCOTT, N.D. (NDHP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) said a 15 year-old male driver was northbound on 167th Ave SE about four miles north of Walcott and one mile south of Hwy. 46 on Saturday, June 8th around 7:30pm.

The driver encountered a deer crossing the road and swerved to miss the deer. The 2012 Ford Edge entered the west ditch and drove into a field. The vehicle became stuck in the field upright and caught fire in the corn stubble. The driver was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and get to safety.

Kindred Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries in this crash. The vehicle was a total loss.
