She attended summer school at Valley City State University and obtained her teacher certificate and taught school for three years in Logan County rural schools.
Monica married Byron Lubbers in 1955 in Napoleon. They spent their first few years of their married life on the Lubbers family farm near Burnstad. She was an active 4H leader for many years. They moved to Cavalier in 1966 and lived there until 1982 when they moved to Jamestown.

In Cavalier she worked as a secretary and a clerk/manager of the Pembina County Soil Conservation District and later when they moved to Jamestown, she held the same position at the Stutsman County Soil Conservation District. She also did retail work at Hillman’s Jewelry in Cavalier and Doerr Jewelry in Jamestown.
Monica was a member of St. James Basilica where she was a Eucharistic minister, member of Our Lady of Lourdes circle, and volunteered for the church.
She was very proud of her five surviving children: Perry (Dawn) Lubbers, Casselton; Carla (Kurt) Kemnitz, (Cavalier); Nancy (Tim) Ost, Valley City; David (Carolyn) Lubbers, Centennial CO;

Her greatest joys in life were visiting, traveling, and camping with her family and attending the activities of grandchildren and being their biggest fan/cheerleader. They were her pride and joy.
The fruits of the Holy Spirit were reflected in Monica’s life – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Monica is at home in the arms of our Heavenly Father – reunited with members of her family that have gone before her. May she rest in peace.
