FARGO, N.D. (HRRV) – The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, Medical Services Division, has awarded a substantial grant of up to $2 million to Hospice of the Red River Valley (HRRV.) This grant is designated for the expansion of home and community-based services to Medicaid members residing in under served regions of North Dakota.
Hospice of the Red River Valley, renowned for its compassionate care spanning over 50,000 square miles across North Dakota and Minnesota, expresses its profound commitment to supporting individuals wherever they call home. With the receipt of this grant, the organization is poised to extend its services to an even broader demographic, encompassing over 60,000 square miles throughout the region.
Over recent years, Hospice of the Red River Valley has been actively engaged at the state level, advocating tirelessly for heightened awareness and accessibility to specialized medical care, particularly in rural areas. The grant’s allocation solidifies this dedication, enabling the establishment of enhanced hospice care in targeted areas within Ward, McLean, Wells, Benson, Foster, Eddy and Pierce counties.
To facilitate this expansion, Hospice of the Red River Valley will inaugurate new office locations in Minot and Jamestown, North Dakota, while bolstering existing services in Bismarck, Jamestown and Devils Lake. The grant funding will be instrumental in fortifying infrastructure, augmenting staffing, and procuring essential resources vital for sustaining care in rural North Dakota.
Understanding the formidable challenges associated with remaining at home and maintaining independence amidst serious, life-limiting illnesses, Hospice of the Red River Valley will introduce Home and Community-Based Extended Care in both urban and rural locales of Burleigh and Cass Counties. This initiative, inclusive of licensed Qualified Service Provider Nurse Educators and non-medical transportation services, underscores the organization’s unwavering commitment to empowering individuals to receive end-of-life care in environments of their choosing.
