FARGO- A furious seventh inning rally came up two bases short as the Cardinal Softball team fell to Harvey Wells County 9-8 on Friday in Fargo’s Midseason Madness IV.

Bailey Ness had two triples, a run and three RBI in defeat while Ella Volk finished a home run shy of the cycle with an RBI and Lauren Hendrickson had three hits, scored twice and drove home a run in the loss.

Carrington trailed 9-5 going to the seventh before the tying run was stranded at second base.  Kaydence Van Ray tossed a complete game, allowing 13 hits and six earned runs while walking three.

The Cardinals continue play in Midseason Madness IV on Saturday, facing Washburn/Center-Stratton at 12:30 PM and De Lacs Burlington/Lewis & Clark at 2:30 PM.

Carrington also learned they will play Larimore at home on Thursday at 5pm in a Region II play-in game with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 4:45 PM.
