VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Wes Anderson received 3rd place Nationally representing North Dakota for the National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars Annual Outstanding History Award.
Anderson said “I’m deeply honored to be included among the ranks of the other nominees and past recipients. I sincerely thank them for this recognition.”
Anderson added, “I enjoy what I do working with the kids and adults is great. I’m often their first exposure to astronomy or local history. So often history is taught without connection or context and to show them artifacts that were a part of significant history with local connections to our community and state adds the level of information that is all too often missing. It is rewarding to me on many different levels. He added, we have a player piano at the museum, but I get to share it with visitors and I teach them how to use it. We have many that return with family or friends to show it to them. It is fun to see them come in and put in a favorite roll and start to sing with it. To know and love a piece of 100+ year old technology that is the start of our modern digital world. I try to make sure stuff is functional and try to provide as many hands-on opportunities as possible as that is a very important part of learning.”
