CARRINGTON- A tie game into the fifth inning turned into a home opening loss for Carrington on Monday afternoon, as they fell to May-Port CG 11-2 in their first game in a week due to weather.
After the Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the second, the Cardinals answered with two in the third. Tate Wolsky singled and stole second before a Grady Shipman single brought him home. That was followed by a run-scoring groundout by Corbin Clifton which plated Josh Bickett, who had walked.
But in the fifth, May-Port CG broke the tie with a five-run inning on just one hit. There were 3 hit batsmen, 2 walks, 3 stolen bases and an error as the Patriots took a lead they would not relinquish.
The Cardinals (2-3, 1-0) continue Region III play in New Rockford on Tuesday against LaMoure-LM. Coverage on KDAK The Cardinal begins at 2:45pm.
