After the rain on Thursday washed out the possibility of the Cardinal baseball team hosting two games on Friday, Velva stepped up to host Carrington and Hillsboro/Central Valley

Game One: Velva 9 Carrington 2

Corbin Clifton reached base four times, but Aggies’ first baseman Luke Selzler had two hits and three RBI as Velva defeated Carrington 9-2.  Josh Bickett (0-1) went three innings on the mound and the Cardinals collected nine hits but stranded nine runners on base as Cooper Kittleson (1-0) threw a complete game while striking out six.

Game Two: Carrington 12 Hillsboro/CV 11

A wild, back and forth game saw Ethan Roller deliver a walk-off 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh capping off a three-run frame in a 12-11 win over the Burros.  Owen Hogel had three RBIs and Tate Wolsky picked up the win in relief and also reached base four times, drove in three, and scored twice.  The Cardinals rallied from down 7-1 in the fourth by scoring six runs on just two hits in the inning to tie the game.  They took the lead on a Jake Otto single in the sixth, 9-8, before the teams traded three-run seventh innings.

Carrington (1-2) travel to New-Rockford Sheyenne on Monday at 4:15 on KDAK The Cardinal
