BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Distracted driving has become a deadly epidemic on our roads. Cell phone use, specifically, texting, talking, and social media use has become the most common distraction.
Other risky actions include adjusting the radio or GPS, applying makeup, eating and drinking. By driving distracted, you’re robbing yourself of seconds that you may need to avoid a close call or deadly crash.
This month we want to encourage you to take the Buckle Up Phone Down (BUPD) pledge. It’s simple: when you get into any vehicle, buckle up your safety belt and encourage others to do the same. If you are a driver, put the cell phone down. Every trip, every time!
April 15-19, 2024 is National Work Zone Awareness Week. This year’s theme is “Work Zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.”
