CRETE, NE – The first game was a rout, the second game was tight, and both continued the frustration for University of Jamestown Baseball against Doane.

Doane swept UJ on Friday 12-0 and 2-1 at the Doane Ballfield Complex to remain unbeaten in GPAC play.

Game 1: Doane 12, Jamestown 0

Two big innings turned a tight game into a rout for the Tigers.

Doane (21-4, 7-0 GPAC) led 1-0 after a first inning home run by Joe Osborn.

In the Doane fourth, an error by the Jimmies’ Jackson Bonneville scored one run before Nate Mensik tripled in three runs and Dane Kelsey hit a sacrifice fly and Doane led 6-0.

Six more in the sixth scored for Doane on a sacrifice fly by Mensik, an RBI single by Ben Grigsby, another RBI single by Logan Amick, a wild pitch and an RBI double by Osborn.

Jamestown (18-7, 4-3) was held to four hits by Aaron Forest (6-0) and Zach Schuchardt.  Luke Zimmer (4-2) gave up nine runs in five and a third innings for the Jimmies.

Game 2: Doane 2, Jamestown 1

Missed chances cost Jamestown (18-8, 4-4) in this game.  The Jimmies stranded five runners in the first three innings, three of which were in scoring position.

Doane (22-4, 8-0) grabbed the lead in the home third with RBI on a double by Dionysius Chialtas and a single by Amick.

Bonneville doubled in the Jamestown run in the fourth, but the Jimmies made the last two outs in this inning on the bases.

Cade Torgerson (6-1) pitched in tough luck, allowing only two runs and five hits with six strikeouts in six and a third innings for Jamestown.

Kaden Crawford (3-1) and Ethan Merk combined on a six-hitter for Doane.

The teams will play another doubleheader in Crete on Saturday.  Coverage will begin at around 11:45 AM on Q101.
