CITY (NewsDakota.com) – As expected, the results of the Dakota Tip-Off Classic in Jamestown last weekend brought some changes to this week’s Top 25 Coaches’ Poll for area teams.

After winning the championship by beating Dakota State and Mayville State, the Jamestown College women (18-3) regained their top spot in the Independent rankings and are up three spots to No. 14 in the nationwide Top 25 poll.

Mayville State, (16-2) which beat Valley City State on Saturday, moved up to the second spot in the Independent rankings and are up to No. 20 in the Top 25 poll.

After their loss to Mayville on Saturday, the Vikings (17-4) dropped to the third spot in the independent rankings and are down 12 spots to No. 25 in this week’s Top 25 polls.

In the men’s poll, Valley City State’s loss to Jamestown College in the Tip-Off Championship has the Vikings down four spots to No. 24 in the nation. VCSU (15-5) is still the second team in the Independent rankings, behind Rochester, Mich. (14-3), which is ranked No. 14.

The Dakota State men are still receiving votes.

Valley City State is on the road at Dakota State on Thursday night for a doubleheader. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 p.m. on KOVC 1490.

Jamestown College is hosting Mayville State on Thursday night in a doubleheader. Pregame begins at 5:15 p.m. on KQDJ 1400.
