Area players Mataeya Mathern and Max Musland are among the finalists for North Dakota’s Miss and Mr. Basketball, released Monday.
Mathern, a small forward who led Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier to a runner-up finish in this year’s girls Division B state tournament, averaged over 17 points and eight rebounds a game in her senior season, along with 4.1 assists and 4.5 steals.
Musland was second in North Dakota players in scoring with 25.5 points per game, while also averaging 6.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals. He led LaMoure-Litchville/Marion to the boys Division B tournament.
The winner, as chosen by representatives of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, will be announced on Friday.
