TUCSON, AZ – University of Jamestown Softball ended its run at the Tucson Invitational Games Saturday by splitting its last two games. The Jimmies defeated Viterbo 7-5, then lost to Embry-Riddle 4-0.
Jamestown 7, Viterbo 5
Mackenzie Lefebvre had four hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Trinity Gregg also drove in two for Jamestown (14-4).
Lefebvre hit a first-inning RBI single. Gregg drove in two runs in the second with a double. Lefebvre hit a solo homer in the third inning. The Jimmies then scored three in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Gentrey Turin, a steal of home by Sidnie Aasen and an RBI single by Amanda Burch.
Sunny Halsey (1-0) pitched four scoreless innings for the win, allowing an unearned run and three hits with three strikeouts.
Embry-Riddle 4, Jamestown 0
Jaden Espinosa doubled in drove in two runs for Embry-Riddle and Diana Miranda Montano homered.
The Jimmies (14-5) were held to three singles by starter Vanessa Brink, who struck out 14.
Abby Blair (5-3) pitched her fifth complete game of the season for the Jimmies (14-5).
Jamestown will open GPAC play with a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 20 at Briar Cliff.
