Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 1 Boys Basketball tournament wraps up on March 7th at the Jamestown Civic Center with the 3rd place and Championship Games.

All games can be heard on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder 98.3.

Third Place Game: #5 EKM Rebels 45-40 Ellendale Cardinals 

The Rebels survived the Ellendale Cardinals to advance to a State Qualifier game on Saturday. The game was back and forth early and throughout the game as it was 10-8 after the first quarter with a EKM lead. EKM would build that lead to 4 at the half with a 22-18 score. Ellendale would not go away however and cut the lead to 3 after three with the Rebels leading 32-29. The Cards and Rebs would be trade the lead several times in the final frame but EKM would do enough to take a 45-40 victory.

Leading all around scorer was Zeke Barnick with 13 (5/11 FG, 2/2 FT). The leading scorer for the Cards was Kade Schimke with 12 (5/12 FG) he also had a double-double with 13 rebounds.

The Rebels will now play North Border at the SHAC on Saturday in a State Qualifier at 7:00 PM. The Cardinal’s season ends with a 15-10 record.

Championship: RV Sargent County Bulldogs 55-51 LaMoure-LM Loboes 

The Bulldogs will be going dancing as they beat the Loboes to punch their ticket to Minot. The game started well for the Bulldogs as they were lead by Josh Wittich who had 11 in the 1st quarter alone as the Bulldogs lead 18-12. The Loboes would battle back in the 2nd to cut the lead to 5 as it would be 28-23 Bulldogs at the half. The Bulldogs would then come back to life in the 3rd to take a 46-33 lead after 3 quarters of play. They would then do enough to take home the Region 1 Title winning 55-51.

The leading all around scorer was Max Musland with 22 (7/21 FG, 6/7 FT). The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Josh Wittich who had 19 (9/17 FG, 1/1 FT) he also had a double-double with 10 rebounds.

The Loboes now play New Rockford Sheyenne on Saturday at 5:00 PM at the SHAC for a chance to go to State. Sargent County punched their ticket to the State Tournament for the first time since 2013 when Milnor one the Tourney.
