MAYVILLE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Devils Lake Firebirds had five players in double figures to help them defeat the Carrington Cardinals 100-42 in the first round of the Division A Region 2 Boys Basketball tournament on Monday night. The No. 4 team in the state and three seed in the tourney improves to 20-2 overall and will take on No. 3 and two seed Four Winds/Minnewaukan on Tuesday night in the semifinals. Carrington will end their season at 2-21 overall.

There were a couple of ties early on in the game, otherwise Devils Lake cruised to the victory, leading 60-24 at halftime. They shot 62% from the field for the game, 41/66, and hit 14 treys as well. Wylee Delorme led the way with 16, Max Palmer added 15, and 10 each for Drew Hofstad, Parker Brodina and Mason Palmer. Carrington had two players in double figures, Grady Shipman had 11 and Josh Bickett 10.
