GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A strong season for Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 2 Men’s Hockey ended with a tough regional loss.

Matt Melachrinakis scored at 13:09 of the second overtime period early Sunday to give Michigan State a comeback 4-3 win over Jamestown in the ACHA Division 2 Men’s Hockey Central Regional at Patterson Ice Center.

Jamestown (24-5-1) couldn’t hold a 3-0 lead.  Ben Hines scored his second goal of the tournament for the Jimmies at 12:56 in the first period.  UJ scored twice more in the second with Marquez Ginger at 1:55 and Tyler Ralph at 7:20.

The Spartans then tallied three times in the third period, with the tying goal coming from Thomas Purton with 4:21 left.

Jamestown outshot Michigan State 74-67.  Jimmies’ goalie Xavier Baker made 63 saves, with MSU netminder Aidan Klingbeil stopping 71 shots.
