LaMoure, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes had the lead for over half the game but they couldn’t stop Max Musland and Brayan Karlgaard as they combined for 49 points to lead the LaMoure-LM Loboes to a 61-56 victory.

The game started well for the Tornadoes as they quickly jumped out to a 7 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter leading 15-8. They were shooting well throughout the first half as well as they went 10/17 on the half. The Loboes on the other hand struggled shooting early as they went 2/14 in the first quarter. They would come to life in the second however as Musland would drop 12 points on the quarter to drag the Loboes back to level and even take a lead however Reese Nitschke would drop 2 trey’s back to back to give the Tornadoes the 30-27 lead at the half.

LaMoure would get their momentum back in the third however as Musland and now Karlgaard picked up where they left off as Karlgaard would get 11 points on the half while Musland dropped another 9 in the 3rd and 7 in the 4th. Oakes didn’t have a response as they would keep it close through out the half but come up just short of coming back in the forth bringing to within 1 to 3 mutliple times but unable to complete the comeback falling 61-56.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Reese Nitschke who went 5/6 on the evening for 12 points.

The leading scorer all around was Musland who went 12/21 from the field and 9/10 from the line for 33 points. Karlgaard went 6/10 from the field and 2/3 from the line for 16 points. Oakes’ leading scorers were Trey Skoglund with 14 (3/11 FG, 7/7 FT) and Eddie Garza with 14 (5/7 FG, 4/6 FT).

Next up for both teams is their respective District Tournaments that begin next Friday, February 23rd. The Loboes will begin the District 2 Tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center against MPB in the 2nd game of the day. You can catch the entire District 2 Tournament on 98.3 Thunder Country.
