VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – There are ninety-nine professionals that answered over 19,000 calls for service in 2023 to help keep the population safe in Barnes County.
Valley Realty and Valley Rental thanked these agency personnel with movie tickets to relax at the theater with new luxurious seating in both theaters. Candy Lukes stated, “Our first responders deserve a wonderful night out. There are extra movie tickets available at the Valley Realty office for other area first responders.”
Responding to a question about taking groups to the theater Cory Keim from Valley Twin Cinema and Bison Theaters said, “We welcome groups and will work to accommodate their needs.”
Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said Fire Department calls for service in 2023, averaged 210 calls/year with half being for Rescue, motor vehicle accidents, farm accidents, water rescues, and searching for people. Volunteers have an average 1,160 hours of training with rescue squad and divers having additional hours. 40 firefighters (including 38 volunteer firefighters.)
Scott Miller owner of Barnes County Ambulance said his 22 employees answered 1,122 calls for service in 2023.
Valley City Police Chief Nick Horner said the Police Department has 13 officers, and 4 administrative positions. He said there were 9,196 calls for service in 2023 (about 25 calls per-day) that includes: Responding to 157 vehicle accidents, making 320 arrests, and issuing 1,719 citations.
Sheriff Randy McClaflin. The Sheriff Department has 22 staff members: Sheriff, 8 deputies, 13 correctional officers at the jail. 6,337 calls for service included: 1,204 Civil Process functions, 144 vehicle accidents, 154 arrests, and 955 traffic stops.
911 Public Service Answering Point Director Sarah Miller and Barnes County Dispatch coordinator has 13 employees (Director, 8 full-time, 4 part-time.) Serve 24 agencies, took 42,935 calls for service, 911 calls totaled 3,578 in 2023.
