(NewsDakota.com) Both gyms at Oakes High School will be used for basketball on Thursday night, as both the girls and boys teams play District 1 games against different schools.

The boys will take on the Cadets of Sargent Central, while the girls will tangle with Hankinson. Oakes’ boys are 1-3 in District 1, 3-8 overall and have gone 2-2 in their last four games; the most recent, a 67-49 loss at Edgeley on Tuesday night. The Cadets are also 1-3 in District 1, 4-6 overall, and are on a two game winning streak with victories against Lisbon and Ellendale.

The Oakes girls will try to even their overall record to 4-4 when they host the Pirates. The Tornadoes defeated Edgeley-Kulm/Montpelier 50-38 on Tuesday night and are 0-1 in District play. Hankinson is 2-5 overall and 1-1 in District 1.

Both games tip around 7:30 p.m., and KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com will have coverage of the boys game, with updates of the girls contest. Pregame is set for roughly 7:15.
