Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls basketball team went 15-16 from the free throw line and defeated top ranked class B Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg (MPCG) Patriots 54-45. The Cardinals also drilled 9 three pointers to aid their victory. Madison Johnson had a game high 21 points (3-3 pointers), was 8-8 from the free throw line, 3 steals, and 5 rebounds. Olivia Threadgold added a pair of three pointers and ended with 12 points. Kenadie Pazdernik knocked down three-three pointers off the bench accounting for all 9 of her points.
The Patriots jumped out quickly in the opening quarter with a 12-2 run and led 12-6 after the first quarter. The Cards would outscore the Patriots 35-20 in the middle quarters and made 8 of there 9 triples to lead 41-32 after three quarters. MPCG was paced by Maysa Larson with 18 points, 8 points from Rylee Satrom, and 7 points from Danica Hanson. The top rated Patriots lost for the second time this season, losing to top rated class A Thompson last month. MPCG dropped to 17-2 overall and Carrington improved to 14-5 and will travel to Lisbon on Thursday.
