GRAND FORKS, ND (vcsuvikings.com) – VCSU freshman Emma Muggli set a new school record in the women’s pentathlon Friday, racking up 2,821 points at the UND Indoor Open.

Muggli set new PR’s in all five events Friday during the pentathlon as she finished in sixth place overall in the event, which featured eight NCAA Division I competitors and 11 total athletes. Her 2,821 points breaks the old school record of 2,716 points, which was set in 2022 by current VCSU assistant coach Taylor Sargent.

Muggli had fifth-place finishes in both the shot put and 800 meter run. Her highest scoring event was the 60 meter hurdles where she scored 729 points with her time of 9.91 seconds.

Also on Friday, Viking junior Jade Azure placed 9th in the women’s indoor discus, which was an exhibition event. Azure recorded a top throw of 35.24 meters (115 feet, 7 inches). That was good for ninth place out of 22 competitors.
