VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Valley City State University Esports Club, is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for kids to experience and try out esports at an upcoming open house event. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM located on the campus of Valley City State University in room McFarland 123. Grades 5+ are welcome (games rated T for teens.)

The open house aims to introduce children to the world of esports, providing them with hands-on experience and an opportunity to explore the exciting realm of competitive gaming. Valley City Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Esports Club, believes in the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for young individuals interested in gaming.

Kids will have the opportunity to see demonstrations, try games in a gaming station set-up, ask questions, and talk with current Esports Club members. Games played are Overwatch 2 and Valorant.

“Partnering with the Esports Club at Valley City State University allows us to expose youth to new and exciting possibilities, fostering a sense of community engagement and exploration,” Hilary Flatt, Valley City Parks and Recreation Facilities Manager, states. “We are excited to continue to look into how we can offer more diverse programs, including esports, and foster activities that cater to more interests and passions of our community.”

The Esports Open House is free and open to all kids Grades 5+ who have an interest in gaming. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children to explore the world of esports and discover the potential it holds.­
