VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com)  Saturday’s Viking NSAA doubleheader produced a comeback for the record books and a struggle against adversity.

And two Viking wins.

Ashlyn Diemert broke the Viking record for three-point shots in a game to lead the women to a 70-69 win, while Lamar Grayson was 10-12 from the foul line in a 16-point performance, fueling a 64-60 men’s win, both over Bellevue University.

Diemert hit eight shots from beyond, eclipsing the mark of seven that had been achieved four times in Viking history.  She finished with 34 points.  JayCee Richter scored 10 in the fourth quarter, nearly all of her 11, to finish a comeback.  The Vikings trailed 31-12 in the second quarter.

Grayson scored his 16 on a night where the Vikings and Bruins combined for 41 fouls and 29 turnovers.  No lead was larger than seven.

Cleveland Bedgood and Agwa Nywesh each added 12.

The Vikings host Mayville State Wednesday.
