JAMESTOWN – The season continues to be frustrating for both Jamestown Blue Jays varsity basketball teams, and the Legacy Sabers continued that feeling for Jamestown on Tuesday.

Legacy’s girls dropped Jamestown 69-43 at Jerry Meyer Arena, followed by a win for the Legacy boys, 87-76.

Girls: Legacy 69, Jamestown 43
Two big runs, one in each half, decided the game for the Sabers.

After Jamestown led 6-2, Legacy (8-1, 4-1 WDA) then scored the next 17 points. Jamestown was within three at half, 32-29, partly due to a 13-point first half by Adisyn Yunck.

Then, Legacy hit six of their first eight shots in the second half on a 13-0 run that extended the visitors’ lead to 45-29 and the Sabers were not threatened again.

Halle Severson led Legacy with 16 points and six rebounds. Brooklynn Felchle scored 15. Kali Dauenhauer scored 13 with 10 rebounds.

Yunck finished with a career-high 18 points for the Blue Jays (3-8, 0-6), hitting four three-pointers. Mea Ulland hit three three-pointers and scored 11.

Jamestown was plagued by 22 turnovers and 33 percent shooting from the floor in their eighth loss in their last nine games.

Boys: Legacy 87, Jamestown 76
Parker Falcon and Lucas Kupfer combined for 55 points to lead Legacy to the win.

Falcon keyed a 21-4 run late in the first half that gave Legacy (6-3, 2-3) the lead for good. He scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half and hit six three-pointers. He also had nine rebounds.

Kupfer then scored 16 of his 26 points in the second half. Legacy had a 16-3 run after Jamestown had cut a 13-point halftime deficit to seven.

Thomas Newman led the Blue Jays (3-7, 1-5) with 25 points and nine rebounds. Noah Meissner scored 23 with 10 rebounds. Ryan Larson had 21 points.

Jamestown shot better in the second half, shooting 62% from the field in the last 18 minutes and 51 percent for the game. But Legacy shot 54 percent.

Both Jamestown teams will play at Williston on Friday. Coverage will begin at 5:30 on Q101.
