JAMESTOWN – The Blue Jay boys hockey team has had trouble scoring goals this season but that all changed on Friday night as Jamestown found the back of the net eight times and defeated Bottineau/Rugby in West Region play 8-3.

The eight goals are a season high for Jamestown and the most goals the Braves have allowed in a game this season.

The Jays struck early and often with four first period goals and never looked back.

Junior Jackson Maddock had a monster game as he picked up a hat trick with his fifth, sixth and seventh goals of the season and he also had two assists. Senior Nate Walz also notched a hat trick with his sixth, seventh and eighth goals of the season. Senior Tyson Jorissen picked up a pair of goals, his third and fourth of the season.

Junior Vaughn Romsdal dished out four assists, senior Adam Sortland and sophomore John Belzer each finished with two assists.

Braves Senior standout Brooks Siemens scored twice and now has 14 goals this season.

The Blue Jays outshot Bottineau/Rugby 32-18 with Jamestown senior goalie Carter Borg making 15 saves.

The Blue Jays improved to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in West Region play.

Next up for the Jays is a trip to Dickinson on Saturday for a matinee against the Midgets with fourth place in the standings at stake. The two teams are currently tied with 12 points in West Region play.
