JAMESTOWN – Two of the best goalies in the state went head to head Thursday night at Wilson Arena in girls hockey and neither disappointed as Mandan squeaked out a 1-0 victory over the Blue Jays.

Jamestown Senior goalie Olivia Sorlie was awesome as she stopped 40 of 41 shots. Braves Sophomore net minder Keiley Bures picked up the shutout as she kicked out nine shots.

Mandan Senior Mikayla Fleck snapped a scoreless tie 28 seconds into period three with a redirected goal, and that stood up for the game winner.

The Braves improve to 8-2 and move into third place in the standings. Jamestown slips to 4-7 and cling to eighth place in the standings. The top eight teams in the standings will qualify for state.

Next up for the Jays is the #1 team in the state as Jamestown will travel to West Fargo United on Tuesday, January 9th.
