(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes City Council held their regular monthly meeting last week.

The final payment has been made to the North Dakota Department of Transportation for construction of the Highway 1 project. The Council approved a payment to Moore Engineering for $9,661.30 for work on the project.

Oakes Fire Chief Jerry Hollingsworth provided to the Council a list of repairs needed for the fire hall; and the possibility of an addition. A better list of improvements was suggested, and estimates along with the new list will be presented to the Council next month. 

The Board also voted in favor of approving $3,600 for bleachers to be used at community programs and events, with the cost being shared with various groups in town.
