CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Coming off their first home loss of the season, the Valley City State women’s basketball team took care of business on Sunday.

The Vikings shot 51 percent from the field and four players scored in double figures Sunday as they blasted Northern New Mexico 79-42. The Vikings were led by Alyssa Hummel with 18 points. Brittany Lehner and Katelyn Ralston each scored 12, and Stephanie Pederson added 10.

With the victory, the Vikings improve to 15-3 on the season. They wrap up a 2-1 record during a three-day home-stand. VCSU beat Northern New Mexico 65-46 on Friday, but lost 76-72 to Johnson and Wales on Saturday.

Up next: The Viking women play their fourth game in five days when they go to Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D., for a game on Tuesday night. Valley City State’s women and men play Mayville State on Saturday during a mid-season tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center. Women tip at 1 p.m., and men at 3 p.m. Also that night, Jamestown College plays Dakota State at 5 and 7 p.m. All four games can be heard on Dakota Country Radio.

Winners and losers from Saturday play each other on Sunday. VCSU and Jamestown games on Sunday can be heard on TED 98.3/102.7.
