JAMESTOWN – The Magi were strong, and mistakes didn’t help the Jamestown Blue Jays.

On Friday, Minot easily defeated Jamestown 81-51 in boys basketball at Jerry Meyer Arena at Jamestown High School.

Minot (7-0, 4-0 WDA) was led by the 20 points of Logan Conklin, who scored 14 in the first half.  Payton Schell hit five three-pointers and scored 17.  Aric Winczewski added 13.

Ryan Larson scored 16 for Jamestown (1-4, 1-3).  Jack Van Berkom recorded his first double-double, with career highs of 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Thomas Newman, the Blue Jays’ leading scorer, was held to seven points, 15 below his season average.

Minot steadily built their lead through the first half as the Blue Jays continued to commit turnovers, ending with 23.  The Magi had only four in the game.
