(NewsDakota.com)- Midkota defeated Napoleon in the championship game a year ago and the two teams will meet again Monday night for the title. Midkota held on to beat the shorthanded Ellendale Cardinals in the final game on the day, 57-55.
Shaye Ronnigen, who suffered an ankle injury in the District 7 volleyball tournament, returned last week and had a 20-point night leading the Mustangs. Sadie Harding hit four first-half triples to help pace Midkota to a 30-18 halftime advantage.
Ellendale got 16 points from Madilyn Bommersbach and 13 from Dacey Fuller as they outscored Midkota in the second-half but weren’t able to climb all the way back.
Napoleon picked up another win their sixth of the season as they downed the Carrington JV 60-46 in the first semifinal. The trio of Mariah Jangula, Sheridan Dewald, and Kendra Weigel combined for 46 of the 60 Imperial points.
Dewald led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds. The No. 3 Imperials are a perfect 6-0 on the season.
In the consolation semifinals South Border defeated Central Prairie 55-51 and Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal finished off Edgeley-Kulm-Montpeiler 43-40.
Due to the weather that postponed the second day there will be just two games played on Monday. Napoleon will play Midkota for the title and PBK/South Border get it started at 6pm in the consolation championship.
Both games will be on TED 98.3 and NewsDakota.com
