VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner girls picked up a solid win, while the boys could not hold on to a halftime lead, in a split of a basketball doubleheader Tuesday night.
Valley City defeated Wahpeton 48-34 in the first game of the night. A key 13-0 run sparked the Hi-Liners early in a win over a Wahpeton team that was previously ranked in the top five of Class A teams in the new three-division system.
Tesa Olson led the Hi-Liners with 13 points. Katie Burchill added 10. Valley City takes on Kindred Thursday, a team receiving votes in the Class A poll.
The Hi-Liner boys led Central Cass, the defending Class B state boys champions, 32-23 at halftime, but dropped a 55-52 loss to the Squirrels in Valley City’s season opener.
Carver Peterson led the Hi-Liners with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Valley City faces Kindred Tuesday, December 19th.
