The Jimmies’ Volleyball season ended in the NAIA Quarterfinals on Saturday against #2 Indiana Wesleyan as the Jimmies fell in four sets (25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 21-25).

The night started out positive for the Jimmies as they took the first set 25-23 after being locked in a defensive standstill with IWU; neither side was able to get a point off their serve until the Jimmies took a 12-11 lead midway through the first. The set ended after Aleah Zieske drove home the set-sealing kill to give Jamestown an early 1-0 lead.

The following two sets, however, played out similarly after the Jimmies got out to an early lead, only to watch it slip away in the middle portion. None of these sets may be more haunting than the third when the Jimmies had a 14-9 lead before the IWU Wildcats went on an 8-0 tear to take a lead they would not relinquish, outscoring Jamestown 16-4 the rest of the way.

The fourth and final set would see IWU race out to the early advantage as Jamestown tried to chip away. The Jimmies, however, would be stuck in a rut they couldn’t get out of, seemingly always being two points short of completing the comeback. Jamestown pulled within one midway through the fourth before an ill-timed service error cut the rally short and sparked another IWU rally that allowed them to build up a cushion they rode to a 25-21 game-sealing win.

IWU will move on to play the winner of Eastern Oregon and Columbia (Mo.) in the NAIA Semi-Finals on Monday, with the second matchup being Northwestern (Ia.) and Viterbo (Wis.).
