This award, the highest honor bestowed by the AFBF on sitting members of Congress, recognizes outstanding agricultural leadership and commitment.
AFBF President Zippy Duvall commended Rep. Johnson for his proactive role in addressing supply chain issues and expanding market opportunities, highlighting his bipartisan approach in a politically divided environment. Johnson’s efforts have focused on delivering solutions to some of the most pressing challenges faced by rural America.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau nominated Rep. Johnson, applauding his dedication to protecting farmers and ranchers, his responsiveness, and his advocacy for fiscal responsibility. Johnson’s active participation in Farm Bureau functions and his personal investment in the success of South Dakota’s agricultural community were also noted.
AFBF Vice President and South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal praised Johnson’s career-long commitment to agriculture. He emphasized Johnson’s ability to work across party lines for the benefit of the nation’s farmers, ranchers, and the agricultural sector at large.
The Golden Plow award is a testament to a legislator’s philosophy and record in supporting sound agricultural policies, the private enterprise system, fiscal conservatism, and reduced federal regulation. Rep. Johnson’s receipt of this award underscores his significant role in advancing these principles within the agricultural community.
