VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Tuesday night is the start of the Hi-Liner wrestling season.
Valley City will host Devils Lake in an Eastern Dakota Conference dual Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. The match is the start of the effort to qualify for state duals for both teams.
Hi-Liner head coach Aaron Larson says his team will be empty at a few weight classes to start the season, while the team sets their lineup and waits for an injured competitor to join the effort.
Valley City was hit hard by graduation from last year’s team, led by stantout Koye Grebel, who is currently competing for Iowa. Other standouts that graduated were Broden Muske, Tucker Johnson, Espen Kunze, Alex Rogelstad, Tyson Hovland and Isaiah Schuldheisz.
Koltyn Grebel will be a leader as a returner, and Ethan Miller returns after being sidelined all of last year due to injury sustained during the 2022 Hi-Liner football season.
The Hi-Liners will dual Fargo North and West Fargo Sheyenne next Tuesday, then see their first tournament action in Wahpeton the first weekend of December.
