VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  A superb career capped off by a superb season landed a Valley City native on the all-conference first team in North Star Athletic Association play.

Defensive lineman Riley Gerhardt grabbed first-team honors after a season that saw him break the Vikings’ career records for tackles for loss and sacks.  Gerhardt finished the season with 123 tackles, a clip of 12.3 per game, which was second best in the nation.  He recorded 16.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.

Gerhardt was joined on the first team by fellow defensive lineman Georgie Mageo, linebacker Jahidi West, and safety Paco Baltazar, along with offensive lineman Jacob Romero.

On the second team for the Vikings were runningback Justice Bice, offensive lineman Troy Dietz, defensive lineman Georgia Mageo, and defensive backs Micah Olson and Emanuel Spiyee.

The Vikings finished 7-3 this season, with their only losses coming to NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines and eventual conference champion Dickinson State, who advanced the NAIA playoffs’ second round with a win this past weekend.
