FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day two of the 2023 State Class B Volleyball tournament was held on Friday at the Fargodome, the first two matches were the consolation semifinals, here are the results:

New Rockford/Sheyenne 3  Trenton 1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-7, 25-9).

Senior Kelsie Belquist had 15 kills and 22 digs to help the Rockets defeat the Tigers of Trenton 3-1 and move into the consolation championship for the second consecutive year (26-24, 18-25, 25-7, 25-9). NRS is now 30-5-3 overall, Trenton falls to 26-6-7 overall.

The first set was fairly close throughout, but the Rockets pulled it out in extras. In set two, the Tigers led the whole way. In set three, NRS jumped out 14-0 before the Tigers scored and cruised to the set victory. In set four, there were three ties early on, but the Rockets would control most of the set. For the Rockets, Ava Peterson had 10 kills, two blocks and 12 digs. Lora Wobbema added 11 kills and two blocks. For Trenton, Megan Clarys had eight kills, one ace and one block.

Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 3  Bismarck Shiloh 2 (24-26, 25-17, 36-38, 25-18, 15-12).

The Loboes of LLM win a five set thriller and will play for the consolation championship on Saturday at noon agains the Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne. In set one, the Loboes led most of the way, but the Skyhawks came back to tie the contest at 24 and go on to get the victory. In set two, LLM controlled most of the set and tied the match at one all. In set three, there were a total of 29 ties and the Skyhawks get the win. In set four, after some early ties, the Loboes took control and won the set to send it to a fifth and final set. In set five, LLM was down at one point 7-2, but the come back for the victory. LLM was led by Tessa Rasmusson with 22 kills and 32 digs, Hiedi Steffes added 20 kills and three blocks and Bailie Kelley had 16 kills, 31 assists and 22 digs. For Shiloh, Dedra Wood had 17 kills.

The Loboes broke the most points scored in a single match in the state tourney, scoring 125 total points. The last record was set in 2003 with 118 points.
