REYNOLDS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Highway Patrol has identified the woman who died in a rollover crash on Thursday, November 2nd as 45-year-old Katie Richards.

The Highway Patrol said the crash happened at the intersection of County Road 13 & County Road 25 approximately 8 miles west of Reynolds shortly after midnight.

The patrol said Richards was driving a 2021 Buick Enclave southbound on 22nd Ave NE. Richards continued
southbound, vaulted, and rolled. The vehicle ended up on its side in a field near Eagle Avenue. Richards sustained fatal injuries due to the crash.

Other agencies assisting at the crash included Traill County Sheriff’s Office, and West Traill EMS.

Katie Richards was a former University of North Dakota basketball player. Richards is regarded as one of the greatest players to put on the basketball uniform at North Dakota, helping the Fighting Sioux reach four NCAA Tournaments.

Richards was Director of Student Success and Disability Services at Mayville State University. “She was a great asset to MSU athletics and always put the students first,” said MSU Athletic Director Rocky Larson.
