FORMAN, N.D. (KFGO) – The Sheriff of Sargent County says it’s a first for him as a law enforcement officer. A suspect in the kidnapping of a bartender in Forman was arrested in the front yard of the Sheriff’s Home. Sheriff Travis Paeper says 47-year-old Ryan Bergh took the woman at gunpoint and held her for several hours.

Paeper says he was asleep when the woman and Bergh arrived at his house. He awoke to find her inside the home screaming for help. She had gotten the handgun away from Bergh. Paeper and another deputy found Bergh, of Havana, N.D., in his front yard. Bergh is in the Richland County jail with bond set at $100, 000. Charges against him include kidnapping, felony restraint, assault, and terrorizing.
