Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The seniors shined on Senior Night in Oakes on Friday, October 13th as they wrapped up regular season play, and likely the final game of the season on Cummings Field, as they beat the Northern Cass Jaguars 39-19.

The game started with Northern Cass coming out and punching Oakes in the nose as they would have a long drive to start off the game that ended with a 4 yard touchdown run by Matthew Hoppe to give the Jaguars a 7-0 lead with 6:48 left to go on the quarter. Oakes would then go three and out with Northern Cass doing likewise. However Oakes would block the punt and bring the ball down to the 2 yard line. Trey Skoglund would punch it into the endzone from there with :30 seconds left in the quarter. They would miss the extra point allowing the Jaguars to hold the lead 7-6 at the end of one.

The Oakes defense would continue to stiffen up and Max Walock would pick up a couple interceptions in the 2nd quarter. Mario Garza would also get his own touchdown after several big runs. He’d punch it in from 1 yard out to give the Tornadoes a 14-7 lead after they converted 2 points with 8:35 left. Skoglund would then get back on the score chart after he ran in from 7 yards out with 1:30 left to give Oakes the 20-7 lead. Northern Cass would threaten one last time in the half before Dylan Harris would have a red zone interception to end the half.

Oakes would start off the half with the ball and they’d control every aspect of play in the 3rd quarter. Skoglund would score his 3rd touchdown of the night on a 4 yard run with 9:08 left. Walock would reel in a dime from Blayson Dolney from 34 yards out for a touchdown with 6:52 left to make it 32-7. To wrap up the quarter Brogan Roney would score on a 17 yard touchdown reception to make it a 39-7 lead with 3:24 left in the quarter. That’d be the final scoring play for the Tornadoes.

Northern Cass would score twice more with Hoppe scoring a 91 yard touchdown run and Chris Hoiland scoring on a 55 yard touchdown reception to make it 39-19 before the game ended which would be the final score.
