The University of Jamestown football team took a loss to the Dordt University Defenders 13-25 today at home at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium.

It was an odd start to the contest, scorigami for some. Dordt would get a safety courtesy of safety Devin Endel who would tackle Gage Meyer in the endzone off a bobbled snap attempting to punt the football out of their endzone. Stephen Leinen who was busy this afternoon would drill a 41-yard field goal to give Dordt University a 5-0 lead with 4:48 left in the 1st quarter. Jamestown would respond with a 20-yard field goal of their own to make it 5-3 to end the first quarter.

The Defenders would drive the football down the field twice for touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. The first one was a 9-play drive for 59 yards that took up 4:28 off the clock. Aanon Peterson would make a 36-yard field goal in between the touchdown drives making the score 12-6 with 1:47 left in the 1st half. Dordt University would squeeze the 2nd touchdown drive out quickly, scoring on 7 plays for 64 yards and a touchdown in just 1:24 leaving 16 seconds left on the clock in the 1st half. 19-6 would be the halftime score with the defenders on top of the Jimmies.

Coming out in the 2nd half the Jimmies looked more composed to start driving down the field on 7 plays for 68 yards taking up 4:37 off the clock ended in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Ty Monson to receiver Dawson Schmidt making the score 13-19 with 5:41 left in the 3rd quarter with the extra point made from Peterson.

Stephen Leinen would stay busy in the 3rd and 4th quarter, making a 45-yard attempt with 2:14 left in the 3rd quarter. Then again, he drilled a 23-yard field goal attempt with 12:27 left in the game. That would be the final score of the game, UJ moves to 2-4 in the GPAC and 2-5 overall this season. They travel on the road next week facing off with Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
