A few weeks ago Barnes County asked Valley City to transfer 9-1-1 funding back to the county as both entities work on transferring the Public Service Answering Point system and employees back to county control. The city commission unanimously agreed to approve of the transfer at Monday’s meeting.

On Tuesday, the Barnes County commission agreed to terminate the existing 9-1-1 agreement with the city on July 16. State’s Attorney Lee Grossman.

Commissioners Phil Leitner and Jon Frohlich voted against terminating the agreement with Valley City.

Barnes County Commission President Eldred Knutson says we need to move ahead on the 9-1-1 transfer process quickly and implement the best possible options for the county.
