JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rotary Club recently held its “Gear Up for Winter with Rotary” winter clothing drive.
According to Jamestown Rotary Secretary Annie Hancock, the drive was “a great success”. Hancock stated that the drive that ran from September 6 to October 5 included 87 children’s coats, 32 snow pants, 132 adult coats and 7 snow pants, 19 pairs of boots, 135 pairs of gloves, and many hats and scarves.
On Sunday, October 8th the Rotary Club distributed 78 children’s coats and 30 snow pants, 60 adult coats and 7 snow pants, 18 pairs of boots, 130 pairs of gloves, and lots of hats and scarves to community members at Two Rivers Activity Center in Jamestown. Over 110 individuals (roughly 50 families) were able to pick out items for the upcoming winter season. Items that were not distributed that day were given to Washington Elementary School, Community Action, and the Orphan Grain Train.
Hancock stated that the Jamestown Rotary Club is grateful to individual donors as well as Unison Bank for monetary donations and Gate City Bank for sponsoring the cost of laundering as well as providing tote bags for the families to put their items in. The club is also thankful for Triumph Inc.’s efforts in helping us collect the items from the various donation sites in town.
Hancock said the club plans on doing the drive again next fall.
