ST. CLOUD, MN (Coborn’s) – Coborn’s, Inc. announces over-the-counter Narcan nasal spray, an opioid overdosing reversal drug, is now available at all Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, and Marketplace Foods grocery stores at the Guest Services counter.
This addition to the stores gives guests and the local community access to potentially life-saving medication. In March, the FDA approved Emergent BioSolution’s Narcan to be sold without a prescription. The nasal spray contains the drug naloxone which binds to opioid receptors and reverses or blocks the effects of other opioids according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
It’s easy to use and works quickly to reverse an opioid overdose in minutes giving caregivers, family members, and friends, the crucial opportunity to save their loved one’s life in case of an emergency. Signs of an overdose may include slow, shallow, or no breathing, tiny pupils, cold to the touch and clammy, blue lips and nails, unusual sleepiness or loss of consciousness, slow heartbeat, and vomiting or gurgling. Naloxone is temporary so it’s important to call 911 immediately for further medical treatment.
