CITY (NewsDakota.com) – After a few weeks of tournaments, the Hi-Liner wrestling team returns to dual action this week with a pair of EDC match-ups.

Valley City hosts Wahpeton on Tuesday night, and then host Grand Forks Red River on Friday night. Both teams are ahead of Valley City in the EDC dual standings, giving the Hi-Liners a chance to move up with a victory or two this week.

Valley City is currently 2-2 in EDC duals. Wahpeton is 2-1 and Grand Forks Red River is atop the EDC at 4-0. The Hi-Liners are currently sixth in the EDC standings. The top four EDC teams qualify for the state dual tournament. Varsity match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. both nights.

The Farmers Union Insurance Wrestler of the Week in Valley City is Zach Doty (pictured). Doty took 3rd place at 170 pounds during the Bismarck Rotary Tournament last weekend in Bismarck. He was the top finisher from Valley City. Doty is currently ranked No. 2 in the Class A state poll at 170 pounds.

The Farmers Union Insurance Wrestler of the Week in Valley City for Dec. 24-30 was Jordan Magnuson. A freshman, Magnuson took third place in the junior varsity 182 pound division during the large Rumble on the Red Tournament in Fargo. He posted an 8-1 record over two days of wrestling. His lone loss came to the division champion.
