VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Superintendent Josh Johnson said this fall, our 9-12 enrollment dropped below 325 students at VCHS.  In falling below this threshold, we qualify to be able to re-classify several of our extra-curricular activities to Class B.
On Thursday, September 28th at the NDHSAA board meeting, Activities Director Rob Hunt will be presenting a request to NDHSAA to allow VCPS to make the move to Class B for the 2024-2025 school year.
Johnson said the decision of the NDHSAA board will be to either allow VCPS to move to Class B in 2024-2025 or 2025-2026.  The projection on our K-12 enrollment for the next 10 years has our 9-12 enrollment remaining below 325 students.  With the implementation this winter of the three-division basketball plan and the sustainability of projected numbers below 325, we believe it is in the best interests of our students and programs to move to Class B for the 2024-2025 school year.
Johnson said regardless of the decision by NDHSAA, our district will need to continue discussing how we plan to proceed with the activities we sponsor that are currently in COOPS (BCN/Maple Valley) and those activities that are only offered at Class A (tennis/gymnastics.)
